Additional Details

unusual copy of orwell's political satire containing an important preface written especially for this translated edition of 2000 copies that were distributed to Ukrainian refugees. In his preface, Orwell provides a good deal of autobiographical information by way of introduction to a readership assumed to be not entirely familiar with his corpus. He then goes on to specifically address his somewhat complicated and evolving feelings toward the Soviet regime. "It was of the utmost importance to me that people in western Europe should see the Soviet regime for what it really was. Since 1930 I had seen little evidence that the USSR was progressing towards anything that one could truly call Socialism."
